Abstract

688,260. Clips. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 29, 1951 [Dec. 2, 1950], No. 28024/51. Class 44 A clip for securing together two turns of an electric flex, e.g. wound round the body of an electrical device, comprises, in the form of Figs. 2 and 3, a body 3 of resilient material having apertures 5, 6, therein, separated by a web 7. One portion 2a of the flex is semi-permanently secured in the aperture 6 by being threaded through or forced through the slot 13. The other portion 2b of the flex is passed into the other aperture through slot 10 which may be widened by gripping the legs 11, 12, the sides of the clip then pivoting about the flex portion 2a in the aperture 6, stretching the web 7 and separating the jaws 8, 9. In another form the slot 13 is replaced by a second web which is compressed as the legs are gripped to open the jaws 8, 9. In this form the flex portion 2a is threaded through the closed aperture 6. In the form of Fig. 5 the web 7 is formed with coarse corrugations to increase its resilience. The slot 10 is tapered so that it becomes parallel when the jaws 8, 9 are opened. The slot 13 is formed between projections 15, 16 on the legs 11, 12.
