Abstract

687,981. Watches. ALLEMANN, A. Nov. 18, 1950, No. 28236/50. Class 139 An automatic winding device for wrist watches comprises a winding member which is freely rotatable about an axis and includes a cam element co-operating with a rockable member to impart a oscillating motion thereto when rotated in either direction, said rockable member being connected to the mainspring by means of a transmission mechanism so as to cause the mainspring to be wound up by said oscillating motion of the rockable member. The weighted winding member 1, Fig. 1, is rotatable about a screw 2 and its hub 7, Fig. 2, ends in a hexagonally shaped cam 8 against which a roller 9, carried by one arm of a double-armed lever 11, is urged by a spring 15. The lever 11 is pivoted on a pin 12 supported by the base plate 4 and a carrier plate 13. The other arm of the lever 11 carries a pawl 14 which is urged by a spring 22 carried by the plate 13 into engagement with a ratchet wheel 16. Movement of the member 1 in either direction oscillates the lever 11 and the pawl 14 steps-on the ratchet wheel 16 which, through a pinion 17, drives a gear 19 in the mainspring winding train. A spring click 21, supported by the carrier plate 13, prevents reverse rotation of the ratchet wheel 16. The sides of the cam 8 may be concave. In another example, Fig. 5.(not shown), the lever 11 is rightangled. In other examples, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), the lever 11 is pivoted at one end and carries the roller 9 intermediate its ends.
