Abstract
687,480. Gas turbine plant, axial flow compressors. SOC. RATEAU and ANXIONNAZ, R. Feb. 24, 1949 [Feb. 27, 1948; April 17, 1948], Nos. 5107/49 and 5108/49. Classes 110(i) and 110(iii) A gas turbine plant has water, which is heated by turbine exhaust gases, injected into the compressor either between two successive compressor wheels or at the periphery of a wheel in the air passages between the blades. A rotating disc 41 between two bladed rotor discs is provided with a water channel 40 ending in a spray nozzle 42. There are two such discs and water is supplied to them from pipes 49a, 49b which supply rotating chambers 49<SP>1</SP>a, 49<SP>1</SP>b, from which lead the conduits 47a, 47b. Alternatively, the channels 40 may be provided in the rotor discs with spray nozzles between the rotor blades. The injection into a stage may be controlled by a valve actuated by a spring loaded diaphragm subjected to the pressure rise across a part of the compressor. The injected water is heated by the turbine exhaust in a heat exchanger arranged after the preheater for the combustion air. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also the subject-matter of Specifications 676,008 and 687,548. The invention is described with reference to a gas turbine plant having two turbines driving the compressor by a common shaft with reheating between the turbines. It is stated that the turbine driving the compressor may be on a separate shaft from the turbine giving useful power. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as. accepted.
