687,104. Gas turbine plant. ALLEN SONS & CO., Ltd., W. H., and POPE, A. W. Sept. 15, 1950 [Oct. 7, 1949], No. 25790/49. Class 110(iii) A gas turbine plant comprises a compressor driving turbine 1 and a governor controlled, constant speed, useful power turbine 2 with a unidirectional or free wheel clutch 9 disposed therebetween to interlock the shafts when the speed of the compressor shaft tends to fall below that of the output shaft. The turbines 1, 2 are arranged in series and the governor controls the fuel supply to the combustion chamber 11. The clutch may be a Sinclair Self-Synchronising clutch and the exhaust gases from the turbine 2 may preheat the air supply to the combustion chamber. Specification 617,856 is referred to.
