Abstract

A magnesium-base alloy has the following composition: Li greater than 5.7 per cent and less than 10.3 per cent, Zr 0.4-0.9 per cent, Mg, at least 70 per cent, the remainder. The alloy may also contain one or more of the following elements: Zn up to 12 per cent, Cd up to 13.9 per cent, Th up to 10 per cent, Hg up to 10 per cent, Ag up to 10 per cent, Ba up to 2 per cent, Sr up to 2 per cent, Ca up to 2 per cent, Pb up to 2 per cent, Be up to 0.1 per cent, Na less than 0.1 per cent.
