Abstract
686,569. Hand-irons. FORDYCE & CO., Ltd., D. S. July 5, 1951. [Sept. 30, 1950] No. 23969/50. Class 138(ii). An electric iron adapted to be supplied with steam through a flexible pipe from a boiler or other steam source, comprises a sole plate a and an overlying plate, Fig. 3 (not shown), bearing, on their opposed faces, a plurality of upstanding partition members b, c, adapted to define together a plurality of interconnected pockets d constituting a tortuous path through which the steam passes to outlets k. The interconnections j between the pockets comprise notches on the upper edges of the partition members b, c, registering with discontinuities in the partitions on the overlying plate. An electric heater element (not shown) is located in contact with the upper face of the top plate and is provided with a manually adjustable thermostat.
