Abstract
The invention comprises organo-silicon compounds of the general formula <FORM:0685539/IV (b)/1> wherein R is an alkyl radical, R1 is an alkyl or phenyl radical, X is a halogen atom, M is a halogen atom or alkoxy radical, a has a value from 1 to 3, b has a value from 1 to 3, c is 1 or 2 and n is 0 or 1, and a process for preparing the above compounds by contacting a halophenol of the general formula <FORM:0685539/IV (b)/2> wherein R1, X, c and n have the above significance, with a silane of the formula RaSiM4-a, wherein R is an alkyl radical, M is a halogen atom or an alkoxy radical and a has a value from 1 to 3. The following compounds are prepared:- Me3Si(o-OC6H4Cl), Me3Si(p-OC6H4Cl), Me3Si(p-OC6H4Br), Me3Si(2.4-OC6H3Cl2), Me3Si(3-Me-4-ClC6H3O-), Me2Si(o-OC6H4Cl)2, Me2Si(p-OC6H4Cl)2, MeSi(p-OC6H4Cl)3, ClMe2Si(p-OC6H4Cl), Me2Ei(p-OC6H4Br)2, Me2EtSi(p-OC6H4Cl), Me2EtSi(p-OC6H4Br), EtOMe2Si(o-OC6H4Cl), EtOMe2Si(p-OC6H4Cl), EtOMe2Si(p-OC6H4Br), Me3Si(2-C6H5-4-Cl-C6H3O-), Me3Si(2-C6H5-6-Cl-C6H3O-), Me3Si(o-IC6H4O-), and Cl2MeSi(p-ClC6H4O-). Specification 685,543 is referred to. The Provisional Specification refers to organosilicon compounds of the above general formula wherein R is an alkyl radical, R1 is an alkyl or phenyl radical, X is a halogen, M is chlorine or an alkoxy radical, a is 0 to 3, b is 1 to 4, c is 1 or 2 and n is 0 or 1. The compounds 2.4-(Me3 SiO)2C6H3Cl and Si(p-C6H4O-)4 are also referred to.
