Abstract
685,466. Universal joints. CUPITT, R., and METADUCTS, Ltd. Dec. 15, 1950 [Dec. 28, 1949],No. 33087/49. Class 80 (ii). A flexible shaft coupling comprises a number of metallic or non-metallic discs g, secured to a central boss f which is attached by bolts d to a half-coupling a on one shaft, and two rings h, i clamping the periphery of the discs between them and attached by bolts j to a half-coupling b on the other shaft. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), two groups of discs are each secured to a common central boss and, at the periphery, to one half coupling. A flange o on an inner guard ring c, extending within but spaced from the ring h, prevents excessive relative displacement of the half-couplings.
