Abstract
685,334. Optical objectives. VOIGTLANDER & SOHN AKT.-GES. Sept. 27, 1950 [Jan. 16, 1950], No. 23679/50. Class 97 (i). In an anistigmat of modified Gausss type having two lens combinations arranged one on each side of an internal stop, each combination consisting of a meniscus dispersing component adjacent to the stop and a collecting component beyond the dispersing component and having its outermost surface concave to the stop, the two components of the front combination being menisci concave to the stop and each consisting of two lenses of opposite sign which lenses have broken contact or are cemented together, the front lens of the front meniscus component is a meniscus lens of such dispersing power that the radii of the adjacent surfaces of the lenses of this component are less than the radius of each of the other two surfaces of this component and are also less than two-thirds of the objective focal length. The front combination of the objective shown consists of lens groups I and II, the radii of the adjacent surfaces R2, R2<SP>1</SP> of the lenses of the front component being less than the radii of surfaces R1 and R3 and less than the two-thirds of the focal length. Preferably, the radii R2, R2<SP>1</SP> are each less than 80 per cent of the diameter D of the objective entrance pupil and less than the radius of each of the surfaces R5, R5<SP>1</SP>. Also, the sum of the radii R1 and R6 may lie between 0.8D and 1.8D, while the difference thereof is less than 0.8D. Optical data are given for one example.
