Abstract

685,086. Chucks. HARDINGE BROS., Inc. Oct. 12, 1950, No. 24931/50. Class 83 (iii). A machine-tool collet comprises a number of radially-movable jaws having their outer surfaces formed to co-operate with an inner tapering surface on a member 9, and movablymounted bearing-pieces 28 for location between the collet and the member. Two bearing-pieces are provided on each jaw and each piece may be faced with tungsten carbide. The collet may be actuated by a tube 20, Fig. 1, abutting it, or by a rod 32, Fig. 4, in screwed connection with it.
