In the labelling machine described in Specification 624,246 additional means are provided to attach neck labels to bottles. As in the prior Specification bottles 30 are rolled past a face of a delivery box 11 to apply a body label held there by suction, after extraction from a magazine 16 and gumming by a device 13 while held on a pick up box 10 ; the label being transferred to the box 11 by a pusher 24. A supplementary face 28 is carried on a block 33 pivotally mounted on the box 11 to apply the neck labels. The blocks 33 on arms 34 pivoted to pendant arms 36 of brackets 37 have suction applied to hold a label and are arranged to be parallel with the face of the box 11 to receive a label from the pick up box 10 and to be pivoted forward about pins 35 against springs 38 to engage the inclined neck of a bottle at the label applying position the movement being controlled by a cam device through projections 40 on slides 41 engaging the ends of arms 39. The pick up box 10 and transfer pusher 24 are extended heightwise to extract and transfer the neck labels from a magazine 17 mounted above the body label magazine 16. The blocks 33 are faced with sponge rubber 45 and a thin smooth plastic sheet and are pivotally mounted on vertical columns 49 adjustable in slots 51 so that the rear edge can be resiliently urged forward by another cam device and the position of the front edge can be adjusted relatively to the bottle path. The neck labels 23 are held inclined on the line 60 Fig. 2, so that the twisting they receive during application brings them horizontal on the bottle.
