684,144. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 10, 1951 [April 26, 1950], No. 8298/51. Class 35. An enclosed dynamo-electric machine has a fan 15 mounted on a shaft 3 and a running seal is formed between a portion of the fan and a member on the bearing so as to prevent the entrance of dirt into the machine. The fan 15 has an imperforate back-plate 16 on which are formed internal and external fan blades 20, 24. A running seal for the bearing 10 is formed by an annular flange portion 26 of an annular bearing baffle member 25 and another annular flange portion 27 formed on the fan plate 16. Another running seal is formed between an annular flange portion 18 of the fan plate 16 and a re-entrant flange portion 14 of a fixed baffle member 12.
