683,263. Ammunition projectiles. SOC. NOUVELLE DES ETABLISSEMENTS BRANDT. Feb. 28, 1951 [March 6, 1950], No. 4899/51. Class 9(i) A bomb or grenade for laying wire entanglements comprises a central tube 1 on which is mounted a support 2a for sleeves 3, and a support 2b for wire containers 5. Each container is preferably tapered to facilitate unwinding of the wire 6 and a housing 5a surrounds the containers. One end of the wire is secured to the base of its container and the other end is fastened to an eyelet 7 on a shell 8 adapted to be fired from the sleeve 3. When the bomb hits the ground a rod 9 sliding in the tube 1 releases the safety-pins 10 of strikers 11. The spring-pressed strikers 11 then impact on detonators 12, which in turn ignite the propellent charges 13 through the relays 14 housed in the sleeves 3. A spring 16 within the tube 1 and abut ting a disc 17 is held in compression by a safety-pin 18. Before throwing the grenade, the pin 18 is removed whereupon the spring 16 bearing on a rod 19 pushes vanes 20 out of a ring 21. The vanes 20 then open outwards to act as a stabilizer for the bomb.
