Abstract

681,602. X-ray apparatus. SIEMENSREINIGER-WERKE AKT.-GES. April 29, 1949 [Oct. 1, 1948], No. 11499/49. Class 98 (i). In a driving means for movable parts of an X-ray apparatus, the parts are connected to an endless band driven by an electric motor having its rotor in engagement with a fixed part of the apparatus and its stator connected to a point of the band which, with the point at which the movable parts are connected to the band, is symmetrical with respect to the centre of gravity of the system comprising the endless band, the movable parts, and the motor, so that the motor takes part in the movement of the system and serves, either alone or together with additional masses attached to the band, to maintain the centre of gravity of the system constant. As shown, an electric motor 5 moves on guides (not shown) on a stationary part 3 of the apparatus by means of a pinion 9 engaging a rack 10 on the part 3. Motor 5 is fastened at 7 to an endless band 6, which passes over pulleys 4 and is connected at 8 to a movable X-ray cassette holder 1. Connections 7, 8 are symmetrical with respect to the centre of gravity of the band. The motor may have a brake actuated by a spring and released by an electromagnet. Power for the motor and electromagnet may be supplied through sliding connections to rails running lengthwise on the part 3.
