Abstract

681,225. Gratings. PEEK, A. S. April 18, 1951 [May 8, 1950], No. 11428/50. Class 107 Gratings for use in the construction of floors, platforms, landings and stair treads comprise a rectangular frame of flat elongated members 1, 2 bearing a number of parallel spaced apart substantially square section bars 4. The tops of the bars 4 and sides 1 lie in a common plane. A strengthening member 3 may be provided and is welded in position with its top surface flush with the top of the bars 4. Alternatively, sides 1 may be flush with members 2 and a bar 4 secured over each side (1). As a stair tread, one side can be inclined inward and downward. Circular section strengthening bars 5 may be also fitted. A securing means 7 (see Fig. 4), may be used to secure the grating to bearer bars 6.
