Abstract

681,195. Liquid - level pressure gauges. EDWARDS & CO. (LONDON), Ltd., W., and THIRKELL, V. W. Dec. 20, 1950 [Dec. 20, 1949], No. 32592/49. Class 106 (ii). A device for observing without parallax the position of the end of a liquid column in a transparent tube comprises a scale marked on two surfaces inclined at an angle to one another. The invention is shown applied to a tilting McLeod vacuum gauge with closed capillary 20 and parallel tube 24 of equal diameter, their radius being slightly less than the radius of curvature of parts 13, 23 of a scale plate 11 having two co-planar parts 15, 21 and two parts 12, 22 at right angles thereto. Graduations 14 extend over the parts 21, 13, 12 and when viewed through the tube 20 appear distorted unless viewed correctly.
