Abstract

681,170. Making sliding bolts. WALKER & WOODWARD, Ltd., and WOODWARD, D. H. E. July 18, 1950 [July 20, 1949], No. 19062/49. Class 83 (ii). In a method of constructing a sliding bolt assembly, the bolt case is formed from a length of extruded section metal providing two diverging portions 10 integrally united at one pair of edges and having a transverse portion 12 integrally united to the other edge of each, the base of the channel has an opening 13 formed therein, a bolt 15 having an integral handle 18 is inserted between the portions 10, and the said portions are then closed towards each other. The bolt may be cranked or straight and formed from extruded metal section or by hot stamping, and the bolt may carry a spring-ball catch to control its sliding movement.
