Abstract
680,504. Resilient mountings for seats. PADST, H. Oct. 31, 1950 [Oct. 31, 1949], No. 26590/50. Class 52(i) [Also in Groups XXXI and XXXII] A support 3 for a resilient, yieldable seat comprises superposed. co-extensive leaf springs 4 clamped together at their ends which are secured to the seat 1 and seat holder 2, respectively. As applied to a bicycle saddle, Fig. 2, the support 3 is clamped in bearings 8, 9 by screws 6 and 7. The seat holder 2 and seat 1 present paths of contact 10, 11 respectively for the support 3. The support 3 may comprise two outer leaf springs of spring metal and an inner leaf spring of wood. Fig. 5 shows two wooden leaf springs 4c, the thickness of the springs decreasing towards the centre of their length. The springs may be cut away in the centre or at one side, one leaf spring being superposed in such a manner that the cutaway portions of successive leaf springs are at opposite sides.
