Abstract

679,077. Sepirating dust from air. PULVERISING MACHINERY CO. Sept. 8, 1950 [Sept. 10, 1949], No. 22241/50. Class 8 (ii) A self-cleaning filter comprises a cylinder 10 of flexible material surrounded by a ring 12, having openings 13 through which air is blown to clean the filter, which is raised and lowered over the filter and various arrangements of flexible members are employed to support and reciprocate the ring. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement wherein three chains 18, 19, 20 are attached to the ring 12 and are driven by sprockets 21, 22, 23 which first rotate in one direction and then in the other, and idling sprockets 28, 32 are used to tension the chains ; alternatively a spring could be inserted in the chains to tension them. In the arrangement shown two chains are connected to the ring at diametrically opposite points and the third chain is connected midway between them. In an alternative construction, two cables are employed and the ends of the cables and connected to the ring through forked members whereby the ring is supported at four points.
