Abstract

678,860. Dry shavers. ELSKY, S. May 16, 1951. [May 23, 1950] No. 12918/50. Class 131. A dry shaving device comprises a handle, a grid secured to a casing which is telescopically slidable with respect to the handle, against the action of a spring, and a cutter mounted on a shaft which is rotated when the handle and casing are telescoped. As shown, the casing 2 is slidable into the handle 1, against the action of the spring 15, balls 13 causing rotation of the threaded shaft 14 and the carrier 19 supporting spring-urged blades 23, 24. The grid 5 is carried by a ring 4 pressed on the upper end of a plug 3 which is a press fit in the casing 2. A projection 27 from the handle 1 engages a helical groove in the casing so that when the casing is pressed into the handle the casing, plug 3, ring 4 and grid 5 are rotated in the opposite direction to that in which the cutter blades rotate. The walls of the plug 3 are apertured at 9 to allow cut hair to be blown out of the dry shaver. A ring 7 is rotatably mounted on the ring 4 and remains stationary when the ring 4 is rotated, co-operating slots in the rings forming a moustache trimmer. A flange 8 of the ring 7 overlies the ring 4 and the edge of the grid and is provided with a segmental lip so that a sharp line of demarcation between shaved and unshaved portions may be made.
