Abstract

678,500. Pile drivers. COMPAGNIE INTERNATIONALE DES PIEUX ARMES FRANKIGNOUL SOC. ANON. March 22, 1951. [March 23, 1950] No. 6926/51. Class 68 (ii). The pile guides 2, Fig. 1, and driving mechanism D of a pile driver are carried on a platform 1 mounted for limited rectilinear movement along a frame 7 having girders 8, 9 resting on the ground. The platform is connected by four racks 31, Fig. 3, and guides 33 (only two of each of which are shown) to a frame 26 having rollers 25 engaging a circular track 24 on a plate 20 whereby the frame 26, platform 1 and frame 7 can be rotated about the vertical axis of a jack 14. On operation of the jack the plate 20 is lowered (taking frame 26 with it, but platform 1 and frame 7 remaining in position) until it contacts with the ground. Further operation of the jack raises the platform 1 and frame 7, and the plate 20 then takes the whole weight of the apparatus. Any tendency to unbalance is rectified by the racks 31 which are geared together by quadrants 34, 38, pinions 36, cranks 43, 44 and coupling rods 45 so that any tendency to movement of one rack produces a rectifying movement of the others. When the plate 20 is retracted as shown in Fig. 1 the weight of the apparatus is taken by the frame 7 and girders 8, 9.
