Abstract
678,226. Electric water heaters. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and RYCROFT, J. L. Oct. 6, 1950 [Oct. 20, 1949], No. 26986/49. 'Class 39(iii) An electric water heater comprises a casing 1 in which are disposed a lagged tank 2 having electric heating means 6, and a cold water feed tank 3 above the tank 2, a pipe with no water control means for feeding water from the bottom of the tank 3 to the bottom of the tank 2, and a draw-off pipe 17 having a tap for taking hot water from the top of the tank 2. The feed tank 3 rests, e.g. on a shelf, in the top of the casing 1, an external pipe connecting an outlet 20 near its base with an inlet 21 adjacent the base of the tank 2. The space between the tank 2 and casing 1 is filled with granulated cork 10 except where the heating element 6 and a thermostat 9 are secured to the wall of the tank 2, a cover plate 15 being provided in the casing 1 at that place. A limited volume of hot water equal to that of the feed tank 3 can be obtained from the tank 2.
