Abstract
673,823. Television. JACKSON, D., COLEMAN, D. R., and PYE, Ltd. Dec. 15, 1949 [Dec. 17, 1948], No. 32762/48. Class 40 (iii). In a television camera the picture signal generating tube is accurately located in a structure (e.g. framework or box) with respect to mounting means by which the structure may be detachably mounted and located in the camera casing. As shown in the drawings, the structure comprises a box 2 provided with saddle members 6, 7 which receive annular metal members 9,. 10 fitted to the tube 1 and accurately located with respect to the optical elements of the tube which is clamped and retained in position by means of bell-crank levers 12. The box is provided with two V-slide members 20 extending transversely across the top 4 and adapted to fit with a pair of complementary slide members 22 carried by a cradle comprising a flat plate 23 which is mounted, within the camera casing, and arranged for sliding movement along slide-bars 25 for focusing purposes. The top 4 is also provided with stop members 30, 34 which engage respectively with corresponding stop members 29, 33 carried by the plate 23 so that upon the box 2 is mounted in the cradle the optical axis of the tube 1, which has previously been accurately located with respect to the slides 20 and stop members 30, 34 (e.g. during factory assembly) can be accurately located with respect to the camera lens system. The plate 23 may be moved back and forth by focusing control mechanism 48, actuated by the focusing control handle 49. If the camera is provided with a rotatable lens turret the focus control mechanism may be constructed as described in Specification 670,581, [Group XX] so that the focusing movement of the plate 23 is varied automatically depending on which lens is being employed. To facilitate the insertion of the box means comprising a pull-rod 50 extending through the bottom of the camera casing moves the plate 23 to a rearward position and thus affords clearance for the projecting portion at the front of the box to be inserted. Specification 673,820 also is referred to.
