Abstract

673,432. Bearings. BOHNEXBLUST, J. April 4, 1950, No. 8487/50. Class 12 (i). A bearing for a rotary spindle 7 comprises a plurality of juxtaposed washers 5 disposed within a casing 1, each washer having a bore of greater diameter than that of the spindle and being urged into contact with the spindle by means of a spring 5a connected to a point on the periphery of the washer and engaging grooves 6d, 6a in the casing 1. Successive washers are displaced 90 degrees, and their springs engage pairs of grooves 6a, 6b; 6b, 6c; 6c, 6d, respectively, in the casing 1. After assembly the washers are clamped between members 2, 3 screwed into the casing 1. Axial play of the spindle 7 is limited by a collar 7a thereon which is disposed between the member 2 and a similar screwed member 4. The space between the bore of each washer 5 and the shaft 7 is adapted to contain lubricant. The shaft 7 carries a pulley 8.
