Abstract

672,815. Awnings. LISLE, U. L. ORCHARD-. Nov. 27, 1950 [Nov. 25, 1949], No. 30324/49. Classes 20(i) and 20(iii) In an awning or tent top the material comprises a number of juxtaposed panels whose side edges lie in substantially the same plane, one end of each panel being wider than the other to form sloping troughs L1, L2 to permit rain water to run off. The fabric cover A of the awning is supported on parallel rods B, carried by vertical bars C connected by lazy tongs D, and is formed into a series of troughs L1, L2, alttrnate troughs sloping in' opposite directions, by means of seams H1, H2' formed along the centre line J1 of each panel lying between adiacent rods B. The seams H1, H2 have the effect of decreasing the width of each fabric panel at one end, so that the panel forms a sloping trough. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), no seams are used, but the fabric is arranged so that the width of one end of each panel is greater than the other. The panels may, if desired, slope in the same direction, and again, each panel may be formed of a separate piece of material.
