669,162. Drawing. BRITISH TUBE MILLS (AUSTRALIA) PROPRIETARY, Ltd. Dec. 2, 1949 [Dec. 2, 1948], No. 31046/49. Class 83 (iv). A draw-bench comprises a fixed tube-drawing die, longitudinal tracks spaced apart to leave a gap, a drawcarriage movable along the tracks by flexible drive members at each side of the gap and an endless conveyer mounted in the gap between the tracks to receive the drawn tubes and remove them in the direction of draw, the conveyer extending beyond the bench a distance greater than the length of the drawn tubes and having, above the extended portion, laterally moving tube discharge means. A draw-carriage 14 has rollers 15 by which it is supported on tracks 4, 5 and pawls, not shown, by which it is connected during the drawing traverse to endless driven chains 7, 8. An endless belt conveyer 21 is mounted in the gap 6 between the tracks and is driven so that the upper run moves in the same direction and at the same speed as the carriage when drawing. Drawn tubes are allowed to fall on to the conveyer by which they are carried clear of the bench and from which they are ejected laterally by fingers projecting downwardly from transversely-moving endless chains 26.
