Abstract

665,623. Fuel-injection pumps. BOSCH GES., R. Dec. 30,1948 [Oct. 1, 1948], No. 33465/48. Class 102 (i) In a fuel-injection pump the piston 20 is reciprocated by a cam 12 acting on a tappet member 14 to which is secured an adjustable bolt 15 locked by a nut 17. The head 16 of the bolt has a recess 31 in which is centred a spring abutment plate 27 that is mounted on a reduced portion 19 of the piston and engages a shoulder 18 on the piston. By this arrangement side thrusts are not transmitted from the return spring 25 to the piston to increase the force necessary to rotate the piston for normal regulation. In a modification an internal surface on the spring abutment plate engages an external surface on the bolt head.
