Abstract

662,739. Delivery arrangements for hotwater boilers. MAUNDER, H. N. Sept. 16, 1948 [July 19, 1948], No. 24385/48. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, March 30, 1949.] Class 64(i) In a " push through " water heater having a water-heating cylinder 1 and an auxiliary chamber 2 with its water inlet and outlet 9 so connected with the outlet pipe 6 from the cylinder that water in the cylinder is displaced into the chamber 2 by expansion during heating and so that water is drawn from the auxiliary chamber 2 when hot water is displaced from the cylinder through the outlet pipe 6, an air vent 10 is so provided in the outlet pipe 6 as to obviate any siphonic discharge of water from the auxiliary chamber 2 when the water tap supplying the cylinder 1 is turned off. When the tap is turned off, water in the part 5 of the outlet pipe flows through the aperture 9 into the chamber 2. The latter is provided with a vent 11. A constriction 4 is provided where the outlet pipe is connected to the cylinder. Specification 342,073 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a water heater, Fig. 1 (Cancelled), in which the expansion chamber 5 is connected by a pipe 7 to the inlet 3, which has an injector 8 at the junction. The chamber 5 is connected to the atmosphere by a pipe 9 containing a non-return valve 10, so that when water is not being drawn from the heater the pressure in the chamber 5 is above atmospheric. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
