Abstract
660,986. Magnetrons. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF TECHNICAL SERVICES OF. Feb. 27, 1948 [Aug. 8, 1945], No. 5957/48. Drawings to Specification. Class 39 (i). [Also in Group XL (c)] A reactance controlled oscillator comprises a first multi-cavity magnetron, a second multicavity magnetron, means for inter-coupling the magnetrons, means for providing a magnetic field and anode voltage such as to make the first magnetron oscillate, and means for providing an anode voltage for the second magnetron below " cut-off " voltage and a magnetic field adapted to make the second magnetron act as a reactance influencing the frequency of oscillation of the first magnetron. The two magnetrons are preferably tightly coupled, as n# by a concentric line having a length -, and the 2 load is preferably loosely coupled to the first magnetron. The magnetic field of the second magnetron should be between 3B 0 /2 and 3B 0 and 10,700 is preferably 2B 0 , where B 0 = 10,700/# and # is the operating wavelength in centimetres.
