Abstract
614,000. Electric resonators. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 20, 1945, No. 34601. Convention date, Dec. 29, 1944. [Class 40 (viii)] [Also in Groups XL (a) and XL (c)] An amplifier or oscillator comprises an outer cylindrical conductor 1 divided by a partition 11, a pair of valves 5, 6 whose grids 9 are flush with the partition, a pair of inner conductors 12, 13 connected to the anodes 7 of the valves, and another pair of inner conductors 14, 15 connected to the cathodes 8 of the valves. The two resonators so formed are tuned by means of two pistons 20, 21 connected to the conductors by spring fingers. In the amplifier shown, the input is supplied through electrostatic plates 30, 31 or by loops, and the output is extracted through a loop 36. In an oscillation-generator, Fig. 2 (not shown), the input coupling 30, 31 is omitted and the two resonators are coupled together by loops. Different modes of oscillation may be obtained according as the valves are excited in push-pull relation, Fig. 3 (not shown), or in parallel, Fig. 4 (not shown). Other modes may be obtained by using more than two pairs of inner conductors, Fig. 5 (not shown), or an outer conductor of elliptical section with inner conductors at its foci, Fig. 6 (not shown). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 450,280.
