Means for automatically changing the feed direction of the fusion cutting means 1, Fig. 2, in an oxygen or like fusion cutting machine having a guiding device which governs the feed of the cutting means through a linkage 2, according to a template 5 provided with tracer means, comprises a turning device 10 mounted within, or on, the template at the meeting point of two guiding slots 11 for the tracer which are substantially at right angles, said device 10 being adapted to turn the tracer automatically with its co-operation as it reaches said meeting point. The device 10 is actuated by a pin 16, Fig. 3, adapted to be depressed by the tracer roller (not shown) against the action of a spring 19 to release a wedge 17 from one pair of two pairs of notches 21 in the lower surface of the template supporting plate 20. The wedge 17 engages slots 18 in a tubular member 12 formed integral with an upper plate 13, having a guideslot 11<SP>1</SP> for receiving the tracer roller, and when the latter enters the slot 11<SP>1</SP> and depresses the pin 16 the release of the wedge 17 allows the 'tubular member 12 to be turned in bearings 28, 29 by a tension spring 24, until the slot 11<SP>1</SP> is aligned with the second slot 11. Meanwhile the roller has passed off the pin 16 so that the wedge 17 now engages the second pair of notches 26. The template 5 is mounted on adjustable supporting means adapted to be moved horizontally in two directions at right angles.
