Abstract

660,394. Linear-dimension gauges. SOC. ANON. OFFICINE MECCANICHE F. LLI DALDI & MATTEUCCI. March 21, 1949 [Oct. 26, 1948], No. 767449. Class 106 (ii). A sliding-jaw calliper gauge comprises a scale and a slide which may be frictionally locked relative to the scale by a member attached to the slide and engaging the scale for substantially the whole length of the slide, the member being urged against the scale by at least two balls each urged against the member by wedges urged apart by a ball acted on by a resilientlyloaded cam integral with a lever by means of which manual pressure may be exerted to unlock the slide. In the embodiment shown, unless a part 14 of a lever 4 pivoted at 5 is depressed against the action of a spring 8, a cam part 7 presses a ball 10 to push apart wedges 12, 13 which acting on balls 9, 11 cause a plate 3 held by a screw 6 to lock the sliding-jaw of the calliper gauge.
