659,743. Tilting casks. COVE, A. G. Jan. 13, 1948, No. 1021. [Class 21] [Also in Group XXX] An accessory for use in conjunction with a wheeled lever arm jack for example for use in tilting casks comprises an adapter plate 1 provided with a spigot 4 which fits into the jack arm 5 in place of the normal lifting crutch, and to which plate is fitted a pivot pin 3 which connects said plate to a cask supporting cradle 8 in such a manner that the cradle can be swung from a vertical position to a horizontal position in which it rests on the plate 1, after which the jack is moved to carry, elevate or lower the cask. A second pin 12 which, like the pin 3, passes through an associated tube 2 on the plate 1 and holes 9 in the cradle 8, is inserted when the cradle is horizontal to prevent unintentional tilting of the load. The load may be directly pivoted to the plate 1 and the cradle 8 dispensed with.
