Abstract

658,610. Filters. WAGHORN, H. W. (Vic Cleaning Machine Co.). Aug. 23, 1949, No. 21647. [Class 46] A fluid filter, particularly for removing impurities from cleaning fluids used in dry cleaning clothing comprises a casing 5 having a fluid inlet 12 and a sludge-removal opening 8 covered by removable plate 9, a stationary supporting tubular member 10 mounted within the casing and having a fluid inlet 14 disposed within the casing and a fluid outlet 11 extending outside the casing, a filter element supporting frame 17 having a pivot element 15 supported by the member 10 and having a fluid conduit 16 which has one or more inlets 21 and an outlet extending through the pivot element 15 in fluid communication with the member 10, one or more spaced hollow filter elements 22 mounted in the frame 17 in fluid communication with the conduit 16 and means for imparting oscillating movement to the frame 17 to remove the accumulated sludge from the filter elements. The filter elements 22 are of rectangular form and are disposed transversely in the rectangular frame 17. The frame is oscillated by a motor 31, Fig. 2, mounted on the side of the casing 5 and connected through transmission gearing 32 to connect 34 which is coupled through linkage 35 to the upper member of the frame 17.
