March 15, 1949, No. 7085., [Class 110(iii)] In a radial flow turbine in which inner stators or steam chests 6 are secured in an outer casing 5, with freedom to expand radially, by means of radial pins 9 in rings 8, the rings 8 are formed with channels for a cooling fluid which may be condensate water. In the form shown in Fig. 4, a ring 8 is formed with two annular channels 11, 16 which communicate through central hollows 17 and holes 18 in radial pins 9. In another form solid pins are grooved in their outer parts to provide extra cooling surface.
