Abstract

A refractory composition comprises barium titanate containing a minor proportion of barium thorate or its chemical equivalent. The preferred proportion of the thorium component is between 2 to 10 parts by weight of barium titanate. To aid in moulding the compositions, binders may be included, e.g. bentonite, starch or flour paste, and firing of the mixture may be before or after such moulding.
