Abstract

654,604. Pneumatic conveyers. MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. Oct. 12, 1948, No. 26564. Convention date, Oct. 23, 1947. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group VI] Tobacco, different from the main supply, e.g. shorts, is fed by a vibrating conveyer 24 to a constriction or venturi tube 53 in a pipe 45 through which air is blown, and is thus delivered to the main feeding apparatus. As shown, the shorts fall from a carded roller 16 on to the conveyer 24, which is mounted on spring supports 26 and is vibrated by an eccentric 35; alternatively, blended tobacco may be delivered to the conveyer from a hopper 92. The constriction is formed by flat plates, backed by lead, the air being supplied by a blower 55 which with the eccentric 35 is driven by the electric motor driving the machine through a clutch 93. The tobacco is delivered by a diverging shoot 63 which is oscillated over the feed-roller 17 from a shaft driving a tamper 66, a spring 74 being included in the connection.
