[Class 133] [Also in Groups VII and XXV] An airtight pocket, such as a tobacco pouch, comprises a cover, a liner disposed within the cover having an opening corresponding to the mouth of the cover and, at the opening in the liner, an airtight sealing device comprising a longitudinal male closure member disposed along one edge of the opening to be sealed and a longitudinal female closure member disposed along the opposite edge of the opening, the male member having an elongate bulbous portion and the female member having an elongate channel having overhanging lips which yieldably encircle the said bulbous portion over its entire length so as to retain it in the channel when the sealing device is in the operative position. As shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 4 a tobacco pouch comprises a cover 10, liner 11, auxiliary slide fastener 13 and a sealing device comprising male and female members 21 and 22 of resilient material attached in an airtight manner within the mouth of liner 11. The male and female members are interlocked by application of lateral pressure and are released by drawing them laterally apart. The two members have a position of non - interlocked closeness which is maintained by closure of the slide fastener alone as shown in Fig. 4. In this position the two members abut, along their length, at three points on their cross-section to form two dead air spaces between the non-engaging parts of the two members.
