Abstract
653,288. Automatic frequency control systems. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Sept. 10, 1948, No. 23836. Drawings to Specification. [Class 38 (iv)] In a signal repeater for F.M. waves the instantaneous frequency difference between the received and transmitted waves is maintained constant by mixing them and deriving from one side band by a discriminator a control voltage acting retroactively on the transmitter. The control voltage may be combined with the demodulated signal from the receiver and both applied to vary an electrode potential of a velocity modulation tube. The mixed frequency may be reduced in frequency by an oscillator before application to the frequency variation discriminator.
