[Class 138 (ii)] [Also in Group XIV] An ironing board of the type attached to a wall and foldable thereagainst comprises in combination a framework attached to the wall, an inner end section in the form of an iron supporting tray mounted by a horizontal hinge to the upper end of the framework and horizontally hinged at its outer edge to the ironing board proper, a main stay horizontally pivoted at its lower end to the lower end of the framework while its upper end is free and is engageable with an abutment on the underside of the board, and additional stays on each side of the main stay and each pivoted at one end to the main stay and at the other end to the hinge between the ironing board proper and the inner end section. An ironing board 19 is hingedly attached at 29 to an ironreceiving tray 14 lined with asbestos or other heat-insulating material, which tray is hingedly attached at 13 to the upper member 6 of a framework formed of crossed members 7, 8 and a lower member 9, the members 6 and 9 being fixed to the wall. The board is supported in its horizontal position by a crossmember 25, connecting stays 24 hingedly attached at 10 to the member 9, which member 25 abuts an angle member 26 fixed to the underside of the board. Stays 28 pivoted at 27 and 29 assist in supporting the board and tray. A collapsable sleeve board of the type described in Specification 609,773 may be incorporated with the board in which case the legs 34 of the sleeve board are pivotally attached to lugs 33 depending from the sides of the tray. The ironing board is collapsed against the wall by turning the tray about its pivots 13 in the direction of the arrow 30. At the same time the stays 24 move in the direction of the arrow 31 while the board 19 moves in the direction of the arrow 32. The sleeve board may be collapsed to lie on the surface of the board 19 or may be turned, in the direction of the arrow 35, to lie against the wall in either its extended or collapsed conditions. The folded ironing board is retained against the wall by a notched catch 78 also pivoted at 13, engaging a stud 23 on a side flange of the board 19.
