Abstract

650,960. Roller skates. SIGMA PUMPS, NATIONAL CORPORATION, and KARDHORDA, E. Dec. 30, 1947, Nos. 34653 and 34654. Convention dates, Jan. 10 and Oct. 15. [Class 132 (i)] A roller skate comprises at least three rollers arranged one behind the other in the direction of skating, all rollers having transversely curved surfaces which are in contact with the skating surface when the skate is vertical or substantially vertical and wherein the cross section of the periphery of the main roller has a smaller curvature than the cross sections of the peripheries of the auxiliary rollers. As shown the skate has three rollers 4, 5, 6, roller 5 being the main roller which remains in contact with the ground when the skate tilts lifting at least one of the other rollers off the ground. The rollers are metal with rubber &c. tyres and a. rubber &c. push off abutment 171 is provided at the front. As shown in Fig. 6, the rollers may be split and mounted on a web instead of between two plates: As shown in Fig. 8, two hard metal, e.g. steel plate discs 17, having a sharp edge 19 to protect the rubber lining 7, may be attached to the sides of the roller.
