649,163. Wave-guides. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. May 19, 1948, No. 13607. Convention date, May 22, 1947. [Class 40 (viii)] A rotary distributer for ultra-short waves comprises radial rectangular wave-guides connected in turn to a parallepiped resonant cavity, rotatable about an axis perpendicular to one of its lateral faces, through a narrow slot in one of its end faces which passes close to the ends of the guides, the cavity being fed along the axis. Radial wave-guides 3, Figs. 3 and 4, are fed in turn from resonator 1 through a slot 21. The end of each guide 3 carries a quarter-wave sleeve 22 to prevent radiation between the guides. The cavity 1 is fed by conductor 13, which is less than a quarter wavelength from the continuous end of the cavity, and forms the inner conductor of a coaxial line whose outer conductor 24 carries gearing for driving the cavity. The conductor 13 is fed from a stationary rectangular guide 6, and is matched to the guide by probes 10, 8. A probe 20 serves to adjust the tuning of cavity 1. The width of the slit 21 in the end face of the cavity is between one hundredth and one twentieth of the width of the cavity.
