[Class 89(ii)] A Hook. device for suspending articles from beams, particularly ships' deck beams, comprises part 3, Fig. 1, slotted to pass. over a depending part 2 of the beam, and having a locking member 6 pivotally mounted at 10. When the member 6 is in the locking-position means such as a pin or an auxiliary hook may be passed through a hole 8 and under a nose 5 of the part 3, to prevent movement from this position The member 6 preferably comprises two plates one on each side of the part 3. In a modification for use on angle beams with a horizontal lower flange the suspension part is slotted to pass over the lower flange and the locking-member is so pivoted to it that the weight of the load keeps it in position pressing against the vertical flange.
