Abstract

647,662. Gear shaving machines. NATIONAL BROACH & MACHINE CO. Feb. 13, 1948, No. 4228. Convention date, April 18, 1947. [Class 83 (iii)] A gear shaving machine comprises a rotary work spindle W vertically adjustable on a frame 10, an upper plate 25 angularly adjustable on an overhanging part 13 of the frame 10, a motor 32 for traversing a lower plate 30 along the upper plate 25, a rotary tool-spindle 43 carried by a support 40 angularly adjustable on the lower plate 30, and a separate motor 42 for rotating one of the spindles. The motor 32 traverses the plate 30 by a screw 33. The work may be fed upwards automatically at the end of each stroke by ratchet means as illustrated in Specification 474,281. The crossed axes setting is 2-20 degrees.
