[Class 42 (i)] [Also in Group XVII] In a method of manufacturing seamed bags from cloth or like materials the seams are produced by uniting a strip or strips of solid heat-sealing material, such as ethyl cellulose or polyvinyl chloride acetate or copolon with a web or superimposed multiple webs of the bag-making material. The strips are initially welded to the web or webs by heat and pressure or by replacing the heating means with a chemical solvent with which the surface of the heat-sealing material is rendered tacky prior to contact with the web or webs, so as to adhere to the latter when the materials are pressed together. In one particular embodiment, cut blanks are afterwards folded and their marginal portions heated under pressure on a conveyer belt to form the seams and the completed bags stacked.
