646,256. Verniers. HILGER & WATTS, Ltd., and BATY, J. A. July 29, 1948, No. 20251. [Class 106 (ii) An illuminated vernier scale for direct observation or projection systems, comprises a main scale (Fig. 2) having an opaque background with translucent scale lines m engraved thereon and a vernier scale (Fig. 3) which is also opaque with translucent slots f engraved as shown. The two scales are super-imposed within a frame e so that only the lines actually coincident are visible, as shown in Fig. 1. The fiducial line g, numerals h, and slots on the vernier scale may be illuminated by edge lighting the vernier material in known manner.
