Abstract

644,554. Hinges; releasable fastenings. LAITMAN, M. Sept. 22, 1948, No. 24844. [Classes 44 and 65(ii)] [Also in Group XVII] In a box comprising two hinged parts 10 the hinge element on one part is constituted by a pair of spaced partspherical members 12 integral therewith, and on the other part by an integral projection 16 formed on its opposite faces with depressions 18 engaged by the partspherical members, the arrangement being such that the pivotal axis passes through the centres of curvature of said members. The latter are separated by a groove 13, while a groove 17 is formed on each side of the projection. The depressions 18 extend to opposite sides of the projection. The parts are formed with hinge elements of both kinds and are assembled by being pressed together. Each part is provided with an additional projection 21 on the side opposite to the hinge, and slightly offset from the centre of that side, said projections engaging, when the box is closed, to act as a catch.
