Abstract
644,462. Discharge lamps. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Dec. 30, 1947, No. 34567. Convention date, Oct. 4, 1944. [Class 39 (i)] A glow discharge lamp has two electrodes 24, 25 which are L- shaped, their vertices being closely spaced to facilitate starting. The projecting corners of the electrodes may be sharp, as shown, or rounded, Fig. 4 (not shown) ; the electrodes may be coated with electron emissive material. A resistance may be incorporated in the base of the lamp and may comprise a ring of resistance material encircling the exhaust tube. The filling may be of neon at 35 mms. pressure, and the inside of the envelope may be coated with fluorescent material.
