644,154. Typewriters &c. STUIVENBERG, C. H. Jan. 13, 1948, No. 1056. [Class 100 (iv)] Hammer - impression arrangements.-In a printing mechanism having type elements longitudinally movable in type-bars by a printing bar or printing hammers, the type elements on each type-bar are reset by a spring &c. loaded two-armed lever mounted independently of the type-bar outside the path of the type elements thereon but with its operative end projecting near the printing region and engaging lateral projections on the type elements of adjacent type-bars ; the reduced overall width of type-bar thereby possible enables a greater number than normal to be accommodated within a given space. As shown the type elements 14 are carried in an inset secured to the vertically rising type-bar 11, are operated by a hammer 26 and are reset by a spring- loaded lever 21 having a laterally extending lug with tapered portions 24, 25 engaging the lug of the operative type element and the lugs on any displaced type elements approaching the printing position as the type-bar is raised or lowered.
