Abstract

643,380. Dashpots. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T., and ROUND, D. S. Nov. 29, 1947, No. 7684. Divided out of 643,374. [Class 108(iii)] In a dashpot for use in a weighing mechanism, of the kind wherein an apertured piston is adapted to be reciprocated within a cylinder containing fluid, the piston comprises a segmentally slotted vane 1 secured to an actuating rod 2, a similar vane 3 in facial contact therewith, mounted about the actuating rod, but restrained from axial movement thereon, and a wound bimetallic coil 4 having its inner end secured to the actuating rod and its outer end connected to the rotatable vane. In operation, the coil 4 rotates the vane 3 to vary the effective area of the slots in the vane 1 upon changes of temperature affecting the viscosity of the liquid in the cylinder.
